George Shaw, emeritus professor in geosciences led a nearly full-day field trip for a group from the Environmental Clearinghouse of Schenectady to Schoharie County to see features of an important karst terrane, such as sinkholes, disappearing streams (into holes in the ground) and a major spring. We also visited and were hosted at a sustainable family farm operation near West Fulton.
Tommaso Gazzarri, professor of classics, recently participated in the international congress "Secundum naturam vivere. Ein antikes Konzept und seine Transformationen," held at Schloss Neuhardenberg in Germany. He presented a paper entitled "Tracce di pneumatismo nel De vita beata di Seneca" ("Traces of Pneumatism in Seneca's De vita beata").
